How do I select and manage pickup and return locations for my trip?
Choosing Pickup Location:
Enter an address or point of interest (like an airport or hotel) and your trip dates when searching for a vehicle.
Filter search results to see vehicles available for pickup at the location you specified.
Check if there is a delivery fee for the pickup location. This fee covers the host’s cost to bring the vehicle to you and pick it up at the end of the trip.
Paying for Pickup and Parking:
Airport Fee: This fee is collected by Alleysa and remitted to the airport. It’s separate from any host charges and is listed as an “Airport fee,” “License recovery fee,” or “Operator fee” on the checkout screen.
Delivery Fee: If you choose to have the host deliver the vehicle, a delivery fee will be charged. The maximum delivery fee is $120. You can filter your search to include delivery fees within your budget. Pay the delivery fee via the Alleysa system; direct payments to hosts violate the Terms of Service.
Parking Fee: If picking up the vehicle requires paying a parking fee, this should be disclosed in the vehicle listing.
Changing Pickup or Return Location:
You cannot set different pickup and return locations when booking. However, you can request changes once the trip is booked or in progress.
The new location must be one where the host offers pickup or within their custom pickup radius.
If the new return location has a different fee, your delivery fee may be adjusted. The adjustment will be 50% of the original pickup fee plus 50% of the new return location’s fee.
Coordinating Pickup:
Review the host’s pickup instructions in their vehicle listing.
Use Alleysa messaging to confirm pickup details. If meeting in person, ensure the host doesn’t request a ride home after dropping off the vehicle.
Utilize Alleysa’s Location Sharing feature to coordinate pickup and return times. This feature is active two hours before and one hour after the scheduled trip start time, and one hour before and two hours after the scheduled trip end time.
Document the fuel level and odometer reading when picking up and returning the vehicle.
Managing Airport Restrictions:
If notified of an airport restriction or injunction affecting vehicle pickups or returns, message your host to agree on a new location.
Request a location change through the Alleysa system. If unable to change, you may cancel the trip.
If you attempt to pick up or return the vehicle at an airport affected by an injunction, legal consequences may apply.
Note: The trip officially begins when you receive the keys or unlock the remote vehicle, not including the host’s travel time to meet you
