What should you do regarding fuel or EV charging, and how can you handle associated fees?
Returning the Vehicle:
Ensure you return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel or charge it had when you picked it up.
If you don’t, the host can request reimbursement from you.
Documenting Fuel or Charge Levels:
Take photos of the fuel or EV gauge before and after your trip.
Also, photograph your fuel receipt showing the date, time, number of gallons/litres, and cost.
Upload these photos to the Trip photos section for reference in case of disputes.
Prepaid Refueling:
If you purchased “Prepaid refueling,” your host can’t request reimbursement, and you can’t get a refund for any unused fuel.
Tesla Supercharger Fees:
Charging Costs: Your host can request reimbursement for Supercharger fees.
Idle Fees: If the station is at 50% capacity or more, idle fees apply if you don’t move the vehicle within five minutes of charging completion. You’re responsible for up to $500* in Supercharger fees.
Congestion Fees: Some stations charge a congestion fee instead of an idle fee when busy. The vehicle’s touchscreen shows the charge level at which this fee applies. You have a five-minute grace period before the fee is charged. You’re also responsible for up to $500* in Supercharger fees.
By following these guidelines, you can manage fuel and charging costs and avoid additional fees.
